Lake Sammamish Residence

This project aimed to turn a steeply sloping backyard into a series of terraced, usable spaces while creating a more navigable path from the house to the boat dock below. A series of granite risers, bluestone paths and patios create a sculptural backbone for the design. The planting plan creates a transition from formal, symmetrical design near the house to native, less structured plantings down the slope toward the water. A new deck was designed to allow more light into the outdoor room and indoor spaces below. The new outdoor living space under the deck features a see-through fireplace that capitalizes on views out toward the lake.
